This document specifies the mechanical and physical properties of bolts, screws, studs and nuts, with coarse pitch thread and fine pitch thread, made of corrosion-resistant stainless steels (i.e. martensitic stainless steels and precipitation hardening austenitic stainless steels) and nickel alloys, intended for use at high temperatures up to 800 °C. Tests in accordance with Clause 9 are performed at the ambient temperature range of 10 °C to 35 °C, and other tests can be performed at higher temperatures, see Clause 10. NOTE Fasteners specified in this document are also suitable when used at low temperatures, typically down to -50 °C. For more information, see ISO 3506-6. The term “fasteners” is used in this document when bolts, screws, studs and nuts are considered all together. ISO 3506-6 provides general rules and additional technical information on suitable stainless steels and nickel alloys as well as their properties. This document applies to fasteners: — with ISO metric thread in accordance with ISO 68-1, — with diameter/pitch combinations in accordance with ISO 261 and ISO 262, — with coarse pitch thread M3 to M39, and fine pitch thread M8×1 to M39×3, — with thread tolerances in accordance with ISO 965-1 and ISO 965-2, and — of any shape but with full loadability. Stainless steel and nickel alloy fastener symbols can be used for sizes outside the diameter limits of this document (i.e. for bolts, screws and studs with d d > 39 mm and for nuts with D D > 39 mm), provided that all applicable chemical, mechanical and physical requirements are met. Fasteners with reduced loadability (i.e. thin nuts and bolts, screws and studs with head or unthreaded shank weaker than the threaded shank) are not dealt with in this document. This document does not specify requirements for functional properties such as: — torque/clamp force properties, — shear strength, — fatigue resistance, — weldability, or — properties of bolted joints and fasteners in high temperature environment (see test methods at high temperature for fasteners in Clause 10).

This document provides a test method for determining the bearing capacity (pull out force) of a connection consisting of a screw in a screw thread channel, which cannot be calculated in accordance with current codes or conventional calculations. This document can be applied to screw thread channels used in several products, including doors, windows and curtain walling.
This document is applicable to screw thread channels made out of metal, as well as metal screws.
The pull out forces of such connections can already be assessed indirectly with another test method e.g. wind load resistance for doors/windows according to EN 12211 or curtain walling kits according to EN 12179. Additional information with respect to the mechanical performance of connections and direct applications can be determined with the test method described in this document.
The bearing capacity of non-metallic components under the combination of high temperature and load is not considered in the standard. Additional verifications are performed depending on the type of the non-metallic material used.

This European Standard specifies the characteristics and performance of mechanical fasteners, including nails, screws and staples, intended to be used for the fixing of gypsum plasterboard, gypsum boards with fibrous reinforcement, products from secondary processing and suitable ancillary products as shown in Figure 2, to timber and metal, as appropriate, in building construction works. The fasteners secure the board to the framing enabling its surface to be finished by jointing or plastering to receive decoration. They can also be used for the construction of the framing and for the connection between substructure and load bearing components and for fixing boards together. Mechanical fasteners contribute to the stability of the assembly.
This European Standard covers the following product performance characteristics: reaction to fire and flexural strength to be measured according to the corresponding European test methods.
It provides for the evaluation of conformity of the product to this European Standard.
This European Standard also covers the additional technical characteristics that are of importance for the use and acceptance of the products by the construction industry and the reference tests for these characteristics.
This European Standard does not cover nails, screws and staples intended for use with materials other than plasterboard and the plasterboard based products referred to above and their associated system components.
