This document specifies requirements and associated test methods for rubber materials used in gas installations, gas equipment and gas appliances in contact with 1st, 2nd and 3rd family combustible gases as classified in EN 437:2018, additionally LPG, bio methane and bio LPG, in the same quality, are covered. It also establishes a classification based on temperature range and hardness. This document is applicable to materials from which homogeneous seals and homogeneous or reinforced diaphragms are manufactured.
Since the dimensions and shape of the components differ from those of standard test pieces taken from sheet material as used for type testing of the rubber materials according to this document, tolerances have been made in the requirements specified by Annex A for the components with respect to those specified for standard test pieces.
The range of operating temperatures covered by this document is –40 °C to +150 °C.
For applications with potential condensation, this document is not applicable for silicon rubber, e.g. above 200 hPa (200 mbar) nominal pressure or at temperatures below 0 °C with 3rd family gases.

This document specifies a test method for determining the leaktightness of elastomeric sealing ring
type joints for buried thermoplastics non-pressure piping systems.
Unless otherwise specified in the referring standard, the tests are carried out at the following basic test
pressures:
— p1: internal negative air pressure (partial vacuum);
— p2: a low internal hydrostatic pressure;
— p3: a higher internal hydrostatic pressure.
It also describes the following four test conditions under which the tests are performed:
a) Condition A: without any additional diametric or angular deflection;
b) Condition B: with diametric deflection;
c) Condition C: with angular deflection;
d) Condition D: with simultaneous angular and diametric deflection.
The applicable selection of the test pressure(s) and the test condition(s) is/are specified in the referring
standard.

This International Standard applies to all types of surface-mount fluid distribution components with elastomeric sealing devices used within process analyser and sample-handling systems. This includes components such as valves, filters, regulators, transducers, and controllers. The scope of this standard is limited as follows. a) This standard addresses only surface-mount fluid distribution components and proper sealing methods. This standard is limited to sealing methods using elastomeric material for the seals. b) The designs of the actual system components and the flow substrate are not specified in this standard. Any indication of mounting direction or other indexing is left to the manufacturer as required for its equipment. c) Users shall be aware that, on the basis of the stream conditions of their processes, other technologies and components may be readily available. d) This standard does not address the effects of various stream conditions on the technical functionality of the component. e) This standard does not address maintenance concerns for the components. f) This standard does not refer to design issues pertaining to specific safety requirements. These issues should be referenced to other standards, organizations, and recommended guidelines. g) International, national, and local codes, regulations, and laws should be consulted to ensure that each component meets the user's regulatory requirements. The object of this standard is to establish properties and physical dimensions that define the interface for surface-mount fluid distribution components with elastomeric sealing devices used within process analyser and sample-handling systems. The interface controls the dimensions and location of the sealing surfaces to allow change of just one element of the system without modification of the entire system. This is what makes the system modular from both a design and a maintenance standpoint.

IEC 62339-1:2006 establishes properties and physical dimensions that define the interface for surface-mount fluid distribution components with elastomeric sealing devices used within process analyser and sample-handling systems. The interface controls the dimensions and location of the sealing surfaces to allow change of just one element of the system without modification of the entire system. This is what makes the system modular from both a design and a maintenance standpoint. It cancels and replaces IEC/PAS 62339-1 published in 2003. This first edition constitutes a technical revision.
