This document is applicable to electric light sources (see Note 1) for use in automotive
applications, for example in road illumination devices and/or light signalling devices for road
vehicles.
It is especially applicable to light sources listed in UN Resolution R.E.5 and light sources subject
to other legislations.
This document specifies the technical requirements for interchangeability for example
dimensional, electrical and photometrical characteristics, and includes test methods.
For the light sources listed in this document, the data sheets are contained either in this
document or are included by reference to UN Resolution R.E.5.
Performance requirements are specified in IEC 60810, for example life, torsion strength,
resistance to vibration and shock.
The requirements for miniature light sources for supplementary purposes, not subject to
legislation, are specified in IEC 60983.
NOTE 1 The terms "lamp" and "light source" are both used in this document to mean the same product, so the two
terms are interchangeable throughout this document.
NOTE 2 In various vocabularies and standards, different terms are used for "incandescent lamp"
(IEC 60050845:
1987, 845-07-04), "discharge lamp" (IEC 60050-845:1987, 845-07-17) and "LED lamp". In this
document "filament lamp", "discharge lamp" and "LED light source" are used, however, where only "lamp" or "light
source" is written, all light sources, independent of the technology used, are meant, unless the context clearly shows
that it applies to one kind of technology only. In the UN Regulations, the word "light source" is used for the products
specified in this document.
NOTE 3 Wherever the term "device" is used, it is meant to designate equipment which is used as a luminaire. It
can for instance take the form and purpose of a headlight or signal light.

EN-IEC 60809 is applicable to replaceable and standardised lamps (filament lamps, discharge lamps and LED light sources) to be used in headlamps, fog-lamps and signalling lamps for road vehicles. In some applications, these lamps may be installed as nonreplaceable. This standard is especially applicable to those lamps which are the subject of legislation. In particular, it includes the lamps contained in Regulations No. 37, No. 99, No. 128 and its series of amendments of the Geneva Agreement of 20 March 1958 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). However, the standard may be used for other lamps falling under the scope of this standard, as well as lamps which are subject of legislation but not contained in Regulations No. 37, No. 99 and No. 128, e.g. the non-replaceable (filament) lamps and LED modules. For replaceable and standardised lamps, the standard specifies the technical requirements with methods of tests and basic interchangeability (dimensional, electrical and luminous) for lamps of normal production and for standard (étalon) lamps. For most of the requirements given in this standard, reference is made to the “relevant lamp data sheet”. For all lamps listed in Clause 8, data sheets are contained in this standard or included by reference. For other lamps, the relevant data are supplied by the lamp manufacturer or responsible vendor. It could be based on national legislation. Other requirements to replaceable and standardised lamps such as lamp life, luminous flux maintenance, torsion strength and resistance to vibration and shock are specified in IEC 60810. IEC TR 61547-1:2020 is available as IEC TR 61547-1:2020 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.
IEC TR 61547-1:2020 describes an objective light flickermeter, which can be applied for the following purposes:
- measuring the intrinsic performance of all lighting equipment without the application of voltage fluctuations in terms of illuminance flicker; during this measurement, the lighting equipment is supplied with a stable mains;
- testing the immunity performance of lighting equipment against (unintentional) voltage fluctuation disturbance on the AC mains in terms of illuminance flicker; during this test a set of defined voltage fluctuations are applied to the AC mains and the immunity of the lighting equipment to the disturbance is determined.
Apart from the above two purposes, the immunity performance of lighting equipment can also be tested against intentional voltage fluctuation on the AC mains arising for example from mains signalling. This is however not described in further detail in this document. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2017. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- the scope of this document has been clarified to make a distinction between flicker testing without voltage fluctuations to measure the intrinsic performance of lighting equipment and flicker testing in which a specific set of voltage fluctuations are applied in order to measure the immunity of the lighting equipment to voltage fluctuations present on the mains;
- the test procedure for flicker testing has been clarified.

IEC 62150-3:2015 It has been found that some optical transceivers and receptacles are susceptible to fibre optic cable induced stress when side forces are applied to the mated cable-connector assembly, resulting in variations in the transmitted optical power. The purpose of this part of IEC 62150 is to define physical stress tests to ensure that such optical connections (cable and receptacle) can continue to function within specifications. This standard specifies the test requirements and procedures for qualifying optical devices for sensitivity to coupled power variations induced by mechanical disturbance at the optical ports of the device. This standard applies to active devices with optical receptacle interfaces. This standard describes the testing of transceivers for use with single-mode connectors having either 2,5 mm or 1,25 mm ferrules. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2012 and constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- extension of application field to SC connector interface transceivers in addition to LC connector interface transceivers specified in the first edition as both transceiver interfaces are very important in the industry;
- addition of a new Annex E dealing with load value difference for connector type in Method A.
Keywords: fibre optic cable induced stress, power variations induced by mechanical disturbance

This part of IEC 60432 specifies the safety and the related interchangeability requirements of tungsten halogen lamps for general lighting service. It covers those tungsten halogen lamps that are used as direct replacements for conventional tungsten filament lamps as well as new tungsten halogen lamps which have no correspondence in IEC 60432-1, but for which the safety and interchangeability requirements are treated by this standard in conjunction with IEC 60432-1. These tungsten halogen lamps have the following characteristics:
– rated wattage up to and including 250 W;
– rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V inclusive;
– caps B15d, B22d, E12, E14, E17, E26, E26d, E26/5039, E27 or E27/5139.
This standard also covers single-ended lamps, within the above ratings, which are not direct
replacements for conventional tungsten filament lamps, but serve the same purpose.
NOTE 1 There is no implication that a tungsten halogen lamp used as a substitute for an incandescent tungsten filament lamp would use the same bulb shape as the original incandescent lamp. NOTE 2 There are two variations of E26 caps which are not fully compatible. E26/24 caps are used in North merica and E26/25 caps are used in Japan.

International Standard IEC 60432-1 specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements of
tungsten filament incandescent lamps for general lighting service having:
– rated wattage up to and including 200 W;
– rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V inclusive;
– bulbs of the A, B, C, G, M, P, PS, PAR or R shapes* , or other bulb shapes where the lamps
are intended to serve the same purpose as lamps with the foregoing bulb shapes;
– bulbs with all kinds of finishes;
– caps B15d, B22d, E12, E14, E17, E26** , E26d, E26/5039, E27 or E27/5139.
As far as is reasonably practicable, this standard is also applicable to lamps with bulbs and caps other than those mentioned above, but which serve the same purpose. This standard specifies the method a manufacturer should use to show that his product conforms to this standard on the basis of whole production appraisal in association with his test records on finished products. This method can also be applied for certification purposes. Details of a batch test procedure which can be used to make limited assessment of batches are also given. This standard is concerned with safety criteria only and does not take into account the performance of tungsten filament lamps with respect to luminous flux, life or power consumption characteristics. Readers should refer to IEC 60064 for such characteristics with respect to types normally used for general lighting service.

It applies to: - incandescent, - tungsten halogen, - gas-discharge and LED based reflector lamps for general lighting purposes. It does not apply to lamps for special purposes such as projection lamps. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1994 and constitutes a technical revision. Due to the increasing use of reflector equipped LED lamps, the scope has been broadened and measurement conditions been included in order to take account of these lamps. Further, for easier understanding of the relation between the different axis and different intensities, two figures have been added. The luminous intensity distribution shall be reported instead of the centre beam intensity, if the latter is very low ("butterfly" distributions).

IEC 62504:2014 is of assistance in the common understanding of terms and definitions, relevant for general lighting with LED technology. The terms included are those already available in IEC LED standards or used in manufacturers' literature. This standard provides descriptive terms (like "LED light sources") and measurable terms when modified from IEC 60050-845 (like "colour rendering index"). This first edition cancels and replaces the IEC TS 62504 published in 2011. The significant changes with respect to IEC TS 62504 are as follows:
a) Terms from the International Electrotechnical Vocabulary that have not been modified are deleted;
b) Alignment with the CIE has been done;
c) An introduction has been added.

This International Standard specifies the performance requirements for single-capped and double-capped tungsten halogen lamps, having rated voltages of up to 250 V, used for the following applications:
- Projection (including cinematograph and still projection)
- Photographic (including studio)
- Floodlighting
- Special purpose
- General purpose
- Stage lighting
For some of the requirements given in this standard reference is made to "the relevant data sheet". For some lamps these data sheets are contained in this standard. For other lamps, falling under the scope of this standard, the relevant data are supplied by the lamp manufacturer or responsible vendor. The requirements of this standard relate only to type testing.
NOTE The requirements and tolerances permitted by this standard correspond to testing of a type test sample, submitted by the manufacturer for that purpose. In principle this type test sample should consist of units having characteristics typical of the manufacturer's production and being as close to the production centre point values as possible.
It may be expected with the tolerances given in the standard that products manufactured in accordance with the type test sample will comply with the standard for the majority of production. Due to the production spread however, it is inevitable that there will sometimes be products outside the specified tolerances. For guidance on sampling plans and procedures for inspection by attributes, see IEC 60410.

IEC 60255-149:2013 specifies minimum requirements for thermal protection relays. This standard includes specification of the protection function, measurement characteristics and test methodologies. The object is to establish a common and reproducible reference for evaluating dependent time relays which protect equipment from thermal damage by measuring a.c. current flowing through the equipment. Complementary input energizing quantities such as ambient, coolant, top oil and winding temperature may be applicable for the thermal protection specification set forth in this standard. This standard covers protection relays based on a thermal model with memory function.

IEC 60743:2013 applies to the terminology used to describe tools, devices, equipment and methods used in live working. It standardizes the name of tools, devices and equipment and permits their identification by providing definitions and illustrations. It contains some example illustrations. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition, published in 2001, and its Amendment 1:2008.This edition constitutes a technical revision which includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: the clause 2 has been simplified and refers directly to IEC 60050-651; some definitions have been moved to specific existing clauses. This new edition is complementary to IEC 60050-651. Different publications under the responsibility of TC 78 include terms and its definitions. IEC 60050-651 (IEV 651) provides precise, brief and correct definitions of internationally accepted concepts in the field of live working, and specifies the terms by which these defined concepts are known. Electropedia gives access to the terms and definitions of IEC 60050-651 (http://www.electropedia.org/). Each product standard gives definitions necessary for the understanding of certain terms used in a specific context. The IEC Glossary (http://std.iec.ch/glossary) gives on-line access to the information.

This part of IEC 60432 specifies the safety requirements for single-capped and double-capped tungsten halogen lamps, having rated voltages of up to 250 V, used for the following applications:
• projection (including cinematograph and still projection),
• photographic (including studio),
• floodlighting,
• special purpose,
• general purpose,
• stage lighting,
This International Standard does not apply to general purpose single-capped tungsten halogen lamps, covered by IEC 60432-2, that are used as replacement for conventional tungsten filament lamps. This part of IEC 60432 covers photobiological safety according to IEC 62471 and IEC/TR 62471-2. Lamps covered by this part of IEC 60432 do not reach risk levels that require risk group marking if they are
a) floodlight lamps,
b) general purpose capsule lamps, or
c) general purpose reflector lamps.

– rated wattage up to and including 250 W;
– rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V inclusive;
