ISO 243:2014 specifies the types and the dimensions of turning tools with carbide tips; it deals only with external tools. It also gives the definition of right-hand and left-hand tools. The shank sections and the inserts used are selected respectively from those defined in ISO 241 and ISO 242.

ISO 242:2014 specifies the dimensions of carbide tips for turning tools intended to be fixed on the shanks of tools by brazing.

ISO 5609 5:2012 specifies the characteristics of tool holders for internal turning with cylindrical shank, style U, i. e. with reduced shank and cutting edge angle equal to 93°. These tool holders are primarily intended for indexable inserts made of hardmetal, ceramic or other cutting materials to be mounted by clamping and to be used for internal turning operations.

ISO 5609 6:2012 specifies the characteristics of tool holders for internal turning with cylindrical shank, style Q, i.e. with reduced shank and cutting edge angle equal to 107,5°. These tool holders are primarily intended for indexable inserts made of hardmetal, ceramic or other cutting materials to be mounted by clamping and to be used for internal turning operations.

These tool holders are primarily intended for indexable inserts made of hardmetal, ceramic or other cutting materials to be mounted by clamping and to be used for internal turning operations.

ISO 5609-1:2012 specifies the code for the designation, styles, general dimensions and calculation for corrections for tool holders for internal turning with cylindrical shank. It is intended to be used in conjunction with, and is completed by, ISO 5609-2, ISO 5609 3, ISO 5609 4, ISO 5609 5 and ISO 5609-6. These tool holders are primarily intended for indexable inserts made of hardmetal, ceramic or other cutting materials to be mounted by clamping and to be used for internal turning operations.

These tool holders are primarily intended for indexable inserts made of hardmetal, ceramic or other cutting materials to be mounted by clamping and to be used for internal turning operations.

ISO 5608:2012 establishes a code for the designation of turning and copying tool holders and cartridges with a rectangular shank, having a standardized dimension, f, intended for use with indexable inserts, thus simplifying orders and specifications for such tools.

Cancels and replaces the first edition (1975). Specifies the types and dimensions of the section of shanks for turning and planing tools of high speed steel and with brazed hardmetal tips. Specifies three types: round section; square section; rectangular sections with ratios of height to width of approximately 1,25; 1,6 and 2.

Establishes a code for the designation of tool holders and cartridges with a rectangular shank for indexable inserts. Comprises symbols for the designation of dimensions. Cancels and replaces the second edition, which has been technically revised.

Cancels and replaces the first edition (1984). Establishes a code for the designation of boring bars (tool holders with cylindrical shank) with standardized dimension f for indexable inserts so that orders and specifications for such tools can be simplified.
