Low-voltage switch mode power supplies - Part 7: Safety requirements (IEC 61204-7:2016)

This part of IEC 61204 specifies the safety requirements for switch mode power supply
(SMPS) units supplied by source voltages up to 1 000 V AC or 1 500 V DC providing AC
and/or DC output(s), except inverter output(s) establishing AC mains (see exceptions in 1.2).
NOTE 1 This document by definition covers DC-DC converters.
NOTE 2 Power supplies may provide accessory AC mains socket outlets, when such outputs are supplied from
the AC mains.
This product standard covers both stand-alone and component SMPS as defined in this
document. DC power and distribution equipment which provides, distributes, monitors, and
controls isolated secondary circuit power to other equipment typically used in information
and communication technology equipment installations (refer to Annex AC).
Equipment which is within the scope of Annex AC consists of some or all of the following:
– distribution panelboards, powerboards, disconnects, and overcurrent protective devices;
– control and monitoring equipment;
– assemblies consisting of: racks, shelves, and enclosures which could contain any of the
above components, interconnecting hardware, power supplies (such as rectifiers,
converters, and inverters), batteries, and any other related peripheral devices.
Where no standards exist, use of this document for other applications is not precluded.

L'IEC 61204-7:2016 spécifie les exigences de sécurité pour les alimentations à découpage (SMPS) alimentées par des sources ne dépassant pas 1 000 V en courant alternatif et 1 500 V en courant continu, fournissant un courant alternatif et/ou continu, à l'exception de la ou des sorties de l'onduleur alimentant le réseau en courant alternatif. Le présent document de produit couvre à la fois les SMPS autonomes et composants telles que définies dans le présent document. Les appareils d'alimentation et de distribution en courant continu fournissent, distribuent, surveillent et contrôlent l'alimentation isolée du circuit secondaire à d'autres appareils généralement utilisés dans les installations des équipements des technologies de l'information et de la communication. Ta del standarda IEC 61204 določa varnostne zahteve za stikalne napajalnike (SMPS), napajane z največ 1000 V izvorne izmenične napetosti ali 1500 V enosmerne napetosti, ki zagotavljajo izmenični in/ali enosmerni izhod, razen izhod inverterja, ki zagotavlja izmenično napajanje (glej izjeme v točki 1.2).
OPOMBA 1: Ta dokument zajema pretvornike enosmernega v enosmerni tok.
OPOMBA 2: Napajalniki lahko zagotavljajo dodatne vtičnice z izmeničnim napajanjem, če so te napajane z izmenično napetostjo.
Ta standard za proizvode zajema tako samostojne kot komponentne stikalne napajalnike (SMPS), kot je določeno v tem dokumentu. Oprema za distribucijo in napajanje z enosmernim tokom, ki zagotavlja, distribuira, nadzoruje in upravlja dovajanje toka izoliranega sekundarnega tokokroga v drugo opremo, ki je običajno uporabljena za namestitev opreme informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije (glej dodatek AC).

Relationship between this European Standard and the safety objectives of
Directive 2014/35/EU [2014 OJ L96] aimed to be covered
This European Standard has been prepared under a Commission’s standardization request relating to
harmonized standards in the field of the Low Voltage Directive, M/511, to provide one voluntary means
of conforming to safety objectives of Directive 2014/35/EU of the European Parliament and of the
Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonization of the laws of the Member States relating to the
making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits
[2014 OJ L96].
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive,
compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZZ.1 confers, within the limits of
the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding safety objectives of
that Directive, and associated EFTA regulations.

Relationship between this European Standard and the safety objectives of
Directive 2014/35/EU [2014 OJ L96] aimed to be covered
This European Standard has been prepared under a Commission’s standardization request relating to
harmonized standards in the field of the Low Voltage Directive, M/511, to provide one voluntary means
of conforming to safety objectives of Directive 2014/35/EU of the European Parliament and of the
Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonization of the laws of the Member States relating to the
making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits
[2014 OJ L96].
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive,
compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZZ.1 confers, within the limits of
the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding safety objectives of
that Directive, and associated EFTA regulations.
