Bituminous mixtures - Test methods - Part 4: Bitumen recovery: Fractionating column

This European Standard (EN 12697 4:2014) describes a test method for the recovery of soluble bitumen from bituminous mixtures from pavements in a form suitable for further testing. The procedure is suitable for the recovery of paving grade bitumen and is also suitable for mixtures containing volatile matter such as cut-back bitumen but the results may be less precise. This European Standard is the reference method for mixtures containing volatile matter, but the rotary evaporator procedure (see EN 12697 3) for mixtures with paving grade bitumen.
NOTE   There is limited experience of recovery when polymer-modified bitumen is used.

Asphalt - Prüfverfahren - Teil 4: Rückgewinnung des Bindemittels: Fraktionierkolonne

Diese Europäische Norm (EN 12697-4:2014) beschreibt ein Prüfverfahren zur Rückgewinnung von löslichem Bitumen aus Asphalt, der als Straßenbaumaterial ver¬wendet wird, in einer zur weiteren Prüfung geeigneten Form. Dieses Verfahren eignet sich zur Rückgewinnung von Straßenbaubitumen, es ist aber auch auf Mischgüter, die flüch¬tige Bestandteile enthalten, wie z. B. verschnittenes Bitumen, anwendbar; die bei diesen erhaltenen Ergeb¬nisse sind jedoch unter Umständen weniger präzise. Für Mischgüter, die flüchtige Bestandteile enthalten, ist das in dieser Europäischen Norm angegebene Verfahren das Referenzverfahren, während das Verfahren mit dem Rotationsverdampfer (siehe EN 12697 3) das Referenzverfahren für Mischgüter mit Straßenbaubitumen ist.
ANMERKUNG   Für die Rückgewinnung von polymermodifiziertem Bitumen liegen nur begrenzte Erfahrungen vor.

La présente Norme européenne (EN 12697 4:2014) décrit une méthode d'essai permettant de récupérer du bitume soluble des mélanges bitumineux prélevés sur la chaussée sous une forme se prêtant à des essais complémentaires. La procédure convient à la récupération de bitume routier ainsi qu'aux mélanges contenant des matières volatiles comme le bitume fluidifié, mais les résultats peuvent être moins précis. Cette Norme européenne est une méthode de référence pour les mélanges contenant des matières volatiles. La méthode à l'évaporateur rotatif (voir EN 12697 3) est toutefois une méthode de référence pour les mélanges à base de bitumes purs routiers.
NOTE   Il existe peu de données expérimentales relatives à la récupération du bitume modifié par des polymères.

Ta evropski standard (EN 12697 4:2014) opisuje preskusno metodo za ponovno pridobitev topnega bitumna iz bitumenskih zmesi za ceste v obliki, ki je primerna za nadaljnje preskušanje. Postopek je primeren za ponovno pridobitev cestogradbenega bitumna in je primeren tudi za zmesi, ki vsebujejo hlapne snovi, kot je rezani bitumen, vendar so lahko rezultati manj natančni. Ta evropski standard vsebuje referenčno metodo za zmesi, ki vsebujejo hlapne snovi, brez postopka z rotacijskim uparjalnikom (glej EN 12697 3) za zmesi s cestogradbenim bitumnom.
OPOMBA: Ob uporabi polimerno modificiranega bitumna so izkušnje glede ponovne pridobitve skromne.

EN 12697-4:2015 (E) 7 Introduction WARNING — The method described in this European Standard may require the use of dichloromethane (methylene chloride), 1.1.1 trichlorethane, benzene, trichlorethylene, xylene, toluene or other solvent capable of dissolving bitumen. These solvents are hazardous to health and are subject to occupational exposure limits as detailed in relevant legislation and regulations. Exposure levels are related to both handling procedures and ventilation provision and it is emphasized that adequate training should be given to staff employed in the usage of these substances. Introduction
WARNING — The method described in this European Standard may require the use of
dichloromethane (methylene chloride), 1.1.1 trichlorethane, benzene, trichlorethylene, xylene, toluene
or other solvent capable of dissolving bitumen. These solvents are hazardous to health and are
subject to occupational exposure limits as detailed in relevant legislation and regulations.
Exposure levels are related to both handling procedures and ventilation provision and it is emphasized that
adequate training should be given to staff employed in the usage of these substances.

1 Scope
This European Standard (EN 12697-4:2014) describes a test method for the recovery of soluble bitumen from
bituminous mixtures from pavements in a form suitable for further testing. The procedure is suitable for the
recovery of paving grade bitumen and is also suitable for mixtures containing volatile matter such as cut-back
bitumen but the results may be less precise. This European Standard is the reference method for mixtures
containing volatile matter, but the rotary evaporator procedure (see EN 12697-3) for mixtures with paving
grade bitumen.
NOTE There is limited experience of recovery when polymer-modified bitumen is used.
