Coil coated metals - Test methods - Part 1: Film thickness

This part of EN 13523 specifies the procedures for determining the dry-film thickness of an organic coating on a metallic substrate (coil coating).
Four appropriate methods are given in this European Standard:
a)   magnetic induction;
b)   eddy current;
c)   micrometer;
d)   optical.
The methods are applicable only to products with smooth and flat substrates but the coating itself may be textured. In that case, for methods a) and b) the average of a series of readings will represent an average of the thickness of the organic coating, while method c) will give the maximum thickness and method d) can provide the minimum, maximum and average thickness.
Non-destructive continuous-web methods on measurement of dry-film thickness (see EN ISO 2808) are not dealt with.

Bandbeschichtete Metalle - Prüfverfahren - Teil 1: Schichtdicke

Dieser Teil der Normenreihe EN 13523 legt die Verfahren zum Bestimmen der Trockenschichtdicke einer organischen Beschichtung auf einem metallischen Substrat (Bandbeschichtung) fest.
Vier geeignete Verfahren werden in dieser Europäischen Norm angegeben:
a)   Magnetoinduktion;
b)   Wirbelstrom;
c)   Messschraube;
d)   optisch.
Die Verfahren sind nur auf Produkte mit glatten und ebenen Oberflächen anwendbar, die Beschichtung darf aber strukturiert sein. In diesem Fall stellt bei den Verfahren a) und b) der Mittelwert einer Reihe von Messungen einen Durchschnittswert der Dicke der organischen Beschichtung dar, während bei Verfahren c) die maximale Schichtdicke und bei Verfahren d) die minimale, maximale und durchschnittliche Schichtdicke angegeben wird.
Nicht zerstörende Verfahren zum Messen der Trockenschichtdicke (siehe EN ISO 2808) für Endlosbahnen werden nicht behandelt.

La présente partie de l'EN 13523 prescrit les méthodes de détermination de l’épaisseur de feuil sec d’un revêtement organique sur un subjectile métallique (prélaquage).
Quatre méthodes appropriées sont décrites dans la présente Norme européenne :
a)   induction magnétique ;
b)   courants de Foucault ;
c)   micromètre ;
d)   optique.
Ces méthodes s’appliquent seulement aux produits qui comprennent des subjectiles lisses et plats, le revêtement lui-même pouvant être texturé. Dans ce cas, pour les méthodes a) et b), la moyenne d’une série de valeurs de lecture représentera une moyenne de l’épaisseur du revêtement organique, tandis que la méthode c) donnera l’épaisseur maximale et que la méthode d) fournira les épaisseurs minimales, maximales et moyennes.
Les méthodes non destructives sur toiles continues visant à déterminer l’épaisseur de feuil sec (voir l’EN ISO 2808) ne sont pas abordées dans le présent document.

Ta del standarda EN 13523 določa postopke za ugotavljanje debeline suhega premaza organske prevleke na kovinski podlagi (prevleke kovin, ki se navijajo).
V tem evropskem standardu so podane štiri ustrezne metode.
a) magnetna indukcija;
b) vrtinčni tok;
c) mikrometer;
d) optična metoda.
Metode se uporabljajo samo za proizvode z gladko in ravno podlago, medtem ko je lahko prevleka teksturirana. V tem primeru bo za metodi a) in b) povprečje niza odčitkov odražalo povprečno debelino organske prevleke, metoda c) bo podala največjo debelino, metoda d) pa bo podala najmanjšo, največjo in povprečno debelino.
Ta dokument ne obravnava neporušitvenih metod z neprekinjeno mrežo za merjenje debeline suhega premaza (glej standard EN ISO 2808).

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2017, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by August 2017.
