This European Standard specifies two test methods for the determination of the internal pressure resistance of glass containers, Method A by application of uniform internal pressure for a predetermined period and Method B by application of internal pressure increasing at a predetermined constant rate.

Diese Europäische Norm legt zwei Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Innendruckfestigkeit von Behältnissen aus Glas fest, Verfahren A, bei dem für eine vorher bestimmte Zeitdauer ein gleichbleibender Innendruck ausgeübt wird, und Verfahren B, bei dem mit vorher bestimmter konstanter Anstiegsrate der Innendruck gesteigert wird.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie deux méthodes d'essai permettant de déterminer la résistance a la pression interne des récipients en verre : la méthode A avec application d'une pression interne uniforme pendant une durée prédéterminée et la méthode B avec application d'une pression interne augmentant a une vitesse constante prédéterminée.

Foreword
This document (EN ISO 7458:2004) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN /TC 261, "Packaging", the
secretariat of which is held by AFNOR, in collaboration with Technical Committee ISO/TC 63 "Glass containers".
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by September 2004, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the
latest by September 2004.
Efficient packaging is of great importance for the distribution and the protection of goods and the environment.
Insufficient or inappropriate packaging can lead to damage or wastage of the contents of the pack.
