The scope of this European Standard is: to establish material requirements for cast austenitic manganese steel for fixed crossings and cradles for crossings with moveable parts designed to be welded or bolted to rails; to formulate codes of practice for inspection, testing of un-machined and machined heat-treated castings; to list the methods by which crossings should be identified and traced; to define limits of weld rectification by the supplier; special requirements for pre-hardened crossings. Geometrical aspects, as machining tolerances and inspection of finished crossings are covered in EN 13232-6 and EN 13232-7 and therefore not in this European Standard. This European Standard specifies the minimum requirements for cast manganese crossing components. Special applications (for instance tram systems) can require different demands in certain paragraphs and need to be agreed between customer and supplier.

Der Anwendungsbereich dieses Teils ist:
   Anforderungen an den Werkstoff für gegossene austenitische starre, einfache Herzstücke und Betten für Herzstücke mit beweglichen Bauteilen festzulegen, die vorgesehen sind, mit den Gleisschienen verschweißt oder verlascht zu werden;
   Richtlinien für die Durchführung der Abnahme und Prüfung von unbearbeiteten und bearbeiteten, wärmebehandelten Gussteilen zu formulieren;
   Verfahren aufzulisten, durch die Herzstücke zu kennzeichnen und rückzuverfolgen sind;
   Grenzwerte für die Ausbesserung durch Schweißen durch den Lieferanten festzulegen;
   Spezielle Anforderungen an vor-verfestigte Herzstücke.
Geometrische Gesichtspunkte, wie die Bearbeitungstoleranzen und die Abnahme fertig bearbeiteter Herzstücke werden in EN 13232-6 und EN 13232-7 behandelt und sind deshalb nicht Teil dieser Norm.
Diese Norm definiert die Mindest-Anforderungen für Herzstücke aus gegossenem Manganstahl. Spezielle Anwendungsbereiche wie z. B. Straßenbahnsysteme können in bestimmten Kapiteln unterschiedliche Anforderungen haben und sind daher zwischen Verbraucher und Lieferanten abzustimmen.

Le domaine d’application de la présente norme européenne vise à :
-   établir les exigences relatives au matériau pour l’acier austénitique au manganèse moulé destiné à être utilisé sur les coeurs à pointe fixe et les berceaux de coeurs à parties mobiles conçus pour être soudés ou éclissés aux rails ;
-   formuler des codes de bonnes pratiques en vue des contrôles, des essais sur pièces moulées usinées ou non, traitées thermiquement ;
-   répertorier les méthodes selon lesquelles il convient d’identifier les coeurs et d’en assurer la traçabilité ;
-   définir des limites de mise en conformité par soudage par le fournisseur ;
-   établir des exigences particulières concernant les coeurs prédurcis.
Les aspects géométriques comme les tolérances d’usinage et le contrôle des coeurs finis étant traités dans l’EN 13232-6 et dans l’EN 13232-7, ils ne sont donc pas abordés dans la présente norme européenne.
La présente norme européenne spécifie les exigences minimales requises des composants de coeurs en acier au manganèse moulé. Certaines applications particulières comme, par exemple, les systèmes de tramways, peuvent nécessiter des exigences différentes à certains alinéas et nécessitent un accord entre le client et le fournisseur.

Področje uporabe tega evropskega standarda je: določitev materialnih zahtev za manganovo jeklo z avstenitno strukturo za nepomična križišča in nosilce za križišča s premičnimi deli, ki so bili oblikovani za varjenje ali kovičenje na tire; priprava praktičnih pravil za pregled, preskušanje strojno neobdelanih in obdelanih toplotno obdelanih odlitkov; navedba metod za določanje in sledenje križišč; opredelitev mej za rektifikacijo zvarnih spojev pri dobavitelju; posebne zahteve za predhodno kaljena križišča. Geometrijske vidike, na primer tolerance za strojno obdelavo in pregled končanih križišč, zajemata standarda EN 13232-6 in EN 13232-7, zato niso vključeni v ta evropski standard. Ta evropski standard določa minimalne zahteve za lita srca iz manganovega jekla. Za posebne načine uporabe (na primer za sisteme tramvajev) bo morda treba uporabiti drugačne zahteve v določenih odstavkih; o tem se morata dogovoriti odjemalec in dobavitelj.

EN 15689:2009 (E) 3 Foreword This document (EN 15689:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 256 “Railway applications”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by May 2010. Sample approval by the supplier is necessary for every new pattern. Any subsequent modifications in the manufacturing process, which may influence the quality of the components, shall be the responsibility of the cast foundry to test and record.
