1.1 General
The data-link layer provides basic time-critical messaging communications between devices in
an automation environment.
This protocol provides the data-link service by making use of the services available from the
physical layer. The relationship between the International Standards for fieldbus data-link
service, fieldbus data-link protocol, fieldbus physical service and systems management is
described in IEC 61158-1.
This protocol provides communication opportunities to all participating data-link entities
a) in a cyclic asynchronous manner, sequentially to each of those data-link entities, and
b) in a synchronous manner, either cyclically or acyclically, according to a pre-established
schedule.
The specified protocol also provides means of changing the set of participating data-link
entities and of modifying the set of scheduled communications opportunities. When the set of
scheduled communications opportunities is null, the distribution of communication
opportunities to the participating data-link entities is completely asynchronous.
Thus this protocol can be characterized as one which provides access asynchronously but
with a synchronous overlay.
1.2 Specifications
This standard specifies
a) procedures for the timely transfer of data and control information from one data-link user
entity to a peer user entity, and among the data-link entities forming the distributed datalink
service provider;
b) the structure of the fieldbus DLPDUs used for the transfer of data and control information
by the protocol of this standard, and their representation as physical interface data units.
NOTE In IEC 61158-4-1, gray boxes have been used in the tables to indicate that the specified field is not a
conceptual part of the specific DLPDU.
1.3 Procedures
The procedures are defined in terms of
a) the interactions between peer DL-entities (DLEs) through the exchange of fieldbus
DLPDUs;
b) the interactions between a DL-service (DLS) provider and a DLS-user in the same system
through the exchange of DLS primitives;
c) the interactions between a DLS-provider and a Ph-service provider in the same system
through the exchange of Ph-service primitives.
1.4 Applicability
These procedures are applicable to instances of communication between systems which
support time-critical communications services within the data-link layer of the OSI or fieldbus
reference models and which require the ability to interconnect in an open systems
interconnection environment.
Profiles provide a simple multi-attribute means of summarizing an implementation’s
capabilities, and thus its applicability to various time-critical communications needs.
1.5 Conformance
This standard also specifies conformance requirements for systems implementing these
procedures. This standard does not contain tests to demonstrate compliance with such
requirements.

L'IEC 61158-4-1:2014 spécifie les procédures pour le transfert en temps utile de données et d'informations de commande d'une entité d'utilisateur de liaison de données vers une entité d'utilisateur homologue, et parmi les entités de liaison de données formant le fournisseur de service de liaison de données distribué et la structure des DLPDU du bus de terrain utilisée pour le transfert de données et d'informations de commande par le protocole de la présente norme, et leur représentation comme unités de données d'interface physique. Cette deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition, parue en 2007. Elle constitue une révision technique. La modification est: l'amélioration terminologique.

1.1 General
Nivo podatkovnih povezav omogoča osnovne časovno kritične sporočilne komunikacije med napravami v avtomatizacijskem okolju.
Ta protokol zagotavlja storitev podatkovne povezave z uporabo storitev, ki so na voljo na fizični ravni. Odnosi med mednarodnimi standardi za storitve podatkovnih povezav procesnih vodil, protokolom podatkovnih povezav procesnih vodil, fizičnimi storitvami procesnih vodil in upravljanjem sistemov so opisani v standardu IEC 61158-1.
Ta protokol opisuje komunikacijske priložnosti za vse udeležene entitete podatkovnih povezav
a) na ciklični asinhroni način, zaporedno za vsako izmed teh entitet podatkovnih povezav, in
b) na sinhroni način, cikličen ali acikličen, glede na vnaprej določen razpored.
Navedeni protokol zagotavlja tudi način za spreminjanje nabora sodelujočih entitet podatkovnih povezav in spreminjanje nabora načrtovanih komunikacijskih priložnosti. Če je nabor načrtovanih komunikacijskih priložnosti ničeln, je razdelitev komunikacijskih priložnosti sodelujočim entitetam podatkovnih povezav povsem asinhrona. Tako je ta protokol mogoče opredeliti kot protokol, ki omogoča asinhroni dostop s sinhronim prekrivanjem.
1.2 Specifikacije
Ta standard določa
a) določa postopke za pravočasni prenos podatkov in informacij o nadzoru od ene entitete s podatkovno povezavo do entitete vrstnikov ter med entitetami s podatkovno povezavo, ki tvorijo ponudnika storitev porazdeljenih podatkovnih povezav;
b) strukturo DLPDU za procesna vodila, ki se uporabljajo za prenos podatkov in informacij o nadzoru
s protokolom tega standarda, in njihovo zastopanost kot fizični vmesnik podatkovnih enot.
OPOMBA V standardu IEC 61158-4-1 so bili v tabelah uporabljeni sivi kvadrati, ki so pomenili, da navedeno polje ni zasnovni del izbranega DLPDU.
1.3 Postopki
Postopki so opredeljeni kot:
a) odnosi med entitetami podatkovnih povezav vrstnikov (DLEs) prek izmenjave procesnih vodil DLPDU;
b) odnosi med ponudniki storitev podatkovnih povezav (DLS) in uporabnikom DLS v istem sistemu prek izmenjave DLS primitivov;
c) odnosi med ponudniki DLS in ponudniki storitev Ph v istem sistemu prek izmenjave primitivov storitev Ph.
1.4 Uporabnost
Ti postopki veljajo za primere komunikacije med sistemi, ki podpirajo storitve časovno kritične komunikacije v okviru ravni podatkovne povezave modelov OSI ali referenčnih modelov procesnega vodila in ki zahtevajo zmožnost medsebojnega povezovanja v okolju medsebojnega povezovanja odprtih sistemov.
Profili zagotavljajo preprost način z več atributi za povzemanje zmogljivosti izvajanja in s tem njihovo uporabnost pri različnih časovno kritičnih komunikacijskih potrebah.
1.5 Skladnost
Ta standard opisuje tudi zahteve glede skladnosti za sisteme, ki izvajajo te postopke. Ta standard ne zajema preskusov za prikaz skladnosti s takimi zahtevami.
