Valve steels and alloys for internal combustion engines
1.1 This European Standard applies to the grades of wrought high-alloy materials listed in table 1. These valve materials are used for intake and exhaust valves in reciprocating internal combustion engines. It is applicable to bars, wire, rod and forgings and for the surface finishes listed in note 3 of 6.3. 1.2 This European Standard does not apply to alloys resistant to wear and corrosion which are used to protect valve seat surfaces.
Ventilstähle und -legierungen für Verbrennungskraftmaschinen
1.1 Diese Europäische Norm gilt für die in Tabelle 1 aufgeführten hochlegierten Werkstoffe. Diese Ventilwerkstoffe werden für Ein- und Auslaßventile von Hubkolben-Verbrennungsmotoren verwendet. Sie gilt für Stäbe, Draht, Walzdraht und Schmiedestücke in den in Anmerkung 3 zu 6.3 aufgeführten Oberflächenausführungen. 1.2 Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für verschleiß- und korrosionsbeständige Legierungen, die zum Schutz von Ventilsitzoberflächen verwendet werden.

1.1 La présente norme européenne s'applique aux nuances de matériaux corroyés fortement alliés énumérées dans le tableau 1. Ces matériaux sont utilisés pour la fabrication des soupapes d'admission et d'échappement des moteurs alternatifs a combustion interne. Elle est applicable aux barres, fils, fils machine et pieces forgées ainsi qu'a toutes les finitions de surface indiquées dans la note 3 du 6.3. 1.2 La présente norme européenne ne s'applique pas aux alliages résistant a l'usure et a la corrosion utilisés pour protéger la surface des sieges de soupapes.
