This Standard specifies a method for determination of the resistance of chemically-pretreated textiles to the action of micro-organisms present in soil in comparison with untreated textiles. This method is applicable to flat textiles made of cellulosic containing yarns (tentage, tarpaulins, webbing and tapes) that will typically come into contact with soil during use. Due to the inherent resistance of most synthetic fibres to attack by micro-organisms, fabrics containing a high proportion of synthetic fibres can only be judged by these methods for changes in structure and appearance.

Diese Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Widerstandsfähigkeit von Textilien fest, die einer chemischen Behandlung gegen die Einwirkung der im Boden vorhandenen Mikroorganismen unterzogen worden sind. Dieses Verfahren ist für textile Flächengebilde aus zellulosehaltigen Garnen (Zeltstoffe, Planen, Gurte und Bänder) anwendbar, die während ihres Gebrauchs typischerweise mit dem Boden in Berührung kommen.

La présente norme définit une méthode pour la détermination de la résistance des textiles qui ont subi un traitement chimique préalable vis-a-vis de l'action des micro-organismes présents dans la terre par rapport a des textiles non traités. La méthode s'applique a des textiles plats réalisés avec des fils contenant de la cellulose (toiles de tente, toile a bâche, sangles et bandes) qui, lors de leur utilisation, sont destinés a entrer inévitablement en contact avec la terre.
