Foreword
The text of document 86A/1074/FDIS, future edition 1 of IEC 60794-5, prepared by SC 86A, Fibres and
cables, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved
by CENELEC as EN 60794-5 on 2007-04-01.
This standard is to be used in conjunction with EN 60794-1-1 and EN 60794-1-2.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2008-01-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
(dow) 2010-04-01
with the EN have to be withdrawn
Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising

1 Scope
This part of IEC 60794 specifies the requirements of microduct optical fibre cables, microduct
fibre units, microducts and protected microducts for installation by blowing for outdoor and/or
indoor use. The microduct optical fibre cables and microduct fibre units utilise the structure of
the microduct or protected microducts to support installation and to provide protection over
