This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the penetration power of bituminous emulsions.
This test method is applicable to low-viscosity bituminous emulsions.

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Eindringfähigkeit von Bitumenemulsionen in
Referenzfüller fest.
Dieses Prüfverfahren ist auf Bitumenemulsionen mit geringer Viskosität anzuwenden.

La présente norme européenne prescrit une méthode de détermination du pouvoir de percolation des
émulsions de bitume.
Cette méthode est applicable aux émulsions de bitume de faible viscosité.

EN 12849:2009 (E) 3 Foreword This document (EN 12849:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 336 “Bituminous binders”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2009. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document supersedes EN 12849:2002. From the previous edition, new reference filler is now specified; a mixture of silica sand and silica filler is used as reference filler. Characteristics of both silica sand and silica filler are given respectively in normative Annex A and Annex B.
