This standard gives the denominations of valves. It has the purpose to provide a uniform and systematic terminology for all types of valves. By reasons of classification of terms clause 4 defines terms related to basic design characteristics and clause 5 defines terms related to functional characteristicsof valves.

Ta standard določa nazive ventilov. Njegov namen je zagotavljanje enotne in sistematične terminologije za vse tipe ventilov. Zaradi klasifikacije pojmov točka 4 določa pojme, ki se nanašajo na osnovne oblikovne značilnosti, točka 5 pa določa pojme, ki se nanašajo na funkcionalne značilnosti ventilov.
