Safety of machinery - Electrical equipment of machines - Part 1: General requirements (IEC 60204-1:2005/A1:2008)

This part of IEC 60204 applies to the application of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment and systems to machines not portable by hand while working, including a group of machines working together in a co-ordinated manner. The equipment covered by this part of IEC 60204 commences at the point of connection of the supply to the electrical equipment of the machine (see 5.1). This part of IEC 60204 is applicable to the electrical equipment or parts of the electrical equipment that operate with nominal supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V for alternating current (a.c.) and not exceeding 1 500 V for direct current (d.c.), and with nominal supply frequencies not exceeding 200 Hz. This part of IEC 60204 does not cover all the requirements (for example guarding, interlocking, or control) that are needed or required by other standards or regulations in order to protect persons from hazards other than electrical hazards. Each type of machine has unique requirements to be accommodated to provide adequate safety. This part specifically includes, but is not limited to, the electrical equipment of machines as defined in 3.35.

Ta del IEC 60204 določa zahteve in priporočila v zvezi z električno opremo strojev, da se spodbudijo:
– varnost ljudi in premoženja,
– doslednost odzivanja na krmiljenje,
– enostavnost vzdrževanja.
Več navodil o uporabi tega dela IEC 60204 je podanih v dodatku F. V pomoč pri razumevanju medsebojnih vplivov različnih elementov stroja in z njim povezane opreme je izdelana slika 1. Slika 1 prikazuje blokovno shemo tipičnega stroja in pripadajoče opreme, ki kaže različne elemente električne opreme, obravnavane v tem delu IEC 60204. Številke v oklepaju ( ) se sklicujejo na točke in podtočke tega dela IEC 60204. S slike 1 je razvidno, da vsi ti elementi skupaj, vključno z varovalno opremo, orodji/očali, programsko opremo in dokumentacijo, predstavljajo stroj in da eden ali več strojev za delo skupaj z navadno vsaj eno stopnjo nadzorne kontrole predstavljajo proizvodne celice ali sistem.

NACIONALNI PREDGOVOR
Dopolnilo EN 60204-1:2006/A1:2009 je pripravil tehnični odbor Evropskega komiteja za
standardizacijo v elektrotehniki CENELEC/TC 44X Varnost strojev – elektrotehniški vidiki.
Slovensko dopolnilo SIST EN 60204-1:2006/A1:2009 je prevod angleškega besedila evropskega
dopolnila EN 60204-1:2006/A1:2009. V primeru spora glede besedila slovenskega prevoda v tem
standardu je odločilno izvirno besedilo evropskega standarda v angleškem jeziku. Slovensko izdajo
tega standarda je pripravil tehnični odbor SIST/TC MOV Merilna oprema za elektromagnetne veličine.
Odločitev za prevzem tega standarda je 15. januarja 2009 sprejel tehnični odbor SIST/TC MOV
Merilna oprema za elektromagnetne veličine.

This amendment A1 modifies the European Standard EN 60204-1:2006; it was approved by CENELEC on
2009-02-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.

This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

Safety of machinery - Electrotechnical aspects, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and
was approved by CENELEC as amendment A1 to EN 60204-1:2006 on 2009-02-01.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the amendment has to be
implemented at national level by publication of
an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2009-11-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting

– use, process, or produce potentially explosive material (for example paint or sawdust);
– are intended for use in potentially explosive and/or flammable atmospheres;
– have special risks when producing or using certain materials;
– are intended for use in mines;
– are sewing machines, units, and systems (which are covered by IEC 60204-31);
– are hoisting machines (which are covered by IEC 60204-32);
– are semiconductor fabrication equipment (which are covered by IEC 60204-33).
Power circuits where electrical energy is directly used as a working tool are excluded from
this part of IEC 60204.

This part of IEC 60204 applies to electrical, electronic, programmable electronic equipment and systems to hoisting machines and related equipment, including a group of hoisting machines working together in a co-ordinated manner
NOTE 1 In this part of IEC 60204, the term "electrical" includes both electrical and electronic matters (i.e. "electrical equipment" means both the electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment).
NOTE 2 In the context of this part of IEC 60204, the term “person” refers to any individual and includes those persons who are assigned and instructed by the user or user’s agent(s) in the use and care of the hoisting machine in question.
The equipment covered by this part of IEC 60204 commences at the point of connection of the supply to the electrical equipment of the hoisting machine (crane-supply-switch) and includes systems for power supply and control feeders situated outside of the hoisting machine, for example, flexible cables or conductor wires or conductor bars (see Figure 3).
NOTE 3 The requirements for the electrical supply installation of electrical equipment of a hoisting machine are given in IEC 60364.
This standard is applicable to equipment or parts of equipment not exceeding 1 000 V AC or 1 500 V DC between lines and with nominal frequencies not exceeding 200 Hz.
NOTE 4 Special requirements for electrical equipment of hoisting machines intended to be operated at higher voltages, see IEC 60204-11 (Annex D)
This part of IEC60204 does not cover all the requirements (for example guarding, interlocking, or control) that are needed or required by other standards or regulations in order to protect persons from hazards other than electrical hazards. Each type of hoisting machine has unique requirements to be accommodated to provide adequate safety. This part of 60204 doesn´t cover noise risks and vibration risks.
Additional and special requirements can apply to the electrical equipment of hoisting machines including those that
- handle or transport potentially explosive material (e.g. paint or sawdust);
- are intended for use in potentially explosive and/or flammable atmospheres;
- have special risks when transporting or moving certain materials
- are intended for use in mines.
For the purposes of this standard, hoisting machines include cranes of all types, winches of all types and storage and retrieval machines. The following product groups are included:
- overhead travelling cranes;
- mobile cranes;
- tower cranes;
- slewing luffing cranes;
- gantry cranes;
- offshore cranes;
- floating cranes;
- winches of all types;
- hoists and accessories;
- loader cranes;
- cable cranes;
- load holding devices;
- storage and retrieval machines;
- monorail hoists;
- straddle carriers;
- rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).
NOTE 5 Definition of the different crane types see ISO 4306-1
This standard does not cover individual items of electrical equipment other than their selection for use and their erection.

This document applies to the identification and marking of terminals of electrical equipment
such as resistors, fuses, relays, contactors, transformers, rotating machines and, wherever
applicable, to combinations of such equipment (e.g. assemblies), and it also applies to the
identification of terminations of certain designated conductors. It also provides general rules for
the use of certain colours or alphanumeric notations to identify conductors with the aim of
avoiding ambiguity and ensuring safe operation. These conductor colours and alphanumeric
notations are intended to be applied on cores, busbars, and electrical equipment, and in cables
or installations.
This basic safety publication focusing on safety essential requirements is primarily intended for
use by technical committees in the preparation of standards in accordance with the principles
laid down in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51.
It is not intended for use by manufacturers or certification bodies. One of the responsibilities of
a technical committee is, wherever applicable, to make use of basic safety publications in the
preparation of its publications. The requirements of this basic safety publication will not apply
unless specifically referred to or included in the relevant publications.

This part of IEC 60204 applies to electrical, electronic, programmable electronic equipment and systems to hoisting machines and related equipment, including a group of hoisting machines working together in a co-ordinated manner
NOTE 1 In this part of IEC 60204, the term "electrical" includes both electrical and electronic matters (i.e. "electrical equipment" means both the electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment).
NOTE 2 In the context of this part of IEC 60204, the term “person” refers to any individual and includes those persons who are assigned and instructed by the user or user’s agent(s) in the use and care of the hoisting machine in question.
The equipment covered by this part of IEC 60204 commences at the point of connection of the supply to the electrical equipment of the hoisting machine (crane-supply-switch) and includes systems for power supply and control feeders situated outside of the hoisting machine, for example, flexible cables or conductor wires or conductor bars (see Figure 3).
NOTE 3 The requirements for the electrical supply installation of electrical equipment of a hoisting machine are given in IEC 60364.
This standard is applicable to equipment or parts of equipment not exceeding 1 000 V AC or 1 500 V DC between lines and with nominal frequencies not exceeding 200 Hz.
NOTE 4 Special requirements for electrical equipment of hoisting machines intended to be operated at higher voltages, see IEC 60204-11 (Annex D)
This part of IEC60204 does not cover all the requirements (for example guarding, interlocking, or control) that are needed or required by other standards or regulations in order to protect persons from hazards other than electrical hazards. Each type of hoisting machine has unique requirements to be accommodated to provide adequate safety. This part of 60204 doesn´t cover noise risks and vibration risks.
Additional and special requirements can apply to the electrical equipment of hoisting machines including those that
- handle or transport potentially explosive material (e.g. paint or sawdust);
- are intended for use in potentially explosive and/or flammable atmospheres;
- have special risks when transporting or moving certain materials
- are intended for use in mines.
For the purposes of this standard, hoisting machines include cranes of all types, winches of all types and storage and retrieval machines. The following product groups are included:
- overhead travelling cranes;
- mobile cranes;
- tower cranes;
- slewing luffing cranes;
- gantry cranes;
- offshore cranes;
- floating cranes;
- winches of all types;
- hoists and accessories;
- loader cranes;
- cable cranes;
- load holding devices;
- storage and retrieval machines;
- monorail hoists;
- straddle carriers;
- rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).
