Foreword


This document (EN ISO 7998:2005) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 172
"Optics and optical instruments" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 170
"Ophthalmic optics", the secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2006, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by April 2006.

This document supersedes EN ISO 7998:1996.

According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium,
Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary,

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. ISO shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
ISO 7998 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 172, Optics and photonics, Subcommittee SC 7,
Ophthalmic optics and instruments.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 7998:1984), which has been technically

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de
normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée
aux comités techniques de l'ISO. Chaque comité membre intéressé par une étude a le droit de faire partie du
comité technique créé à cet effet. Les organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non
gouvernementales, en liaison avec l'ISO participent également aux travaux. L'ISO collabore étroitement avec
la Commission électrotechnique internationale (CEI) en ce qui concerne la normalisation électrotechnique.

Introduction
Spectacle frames and parts thereof are articles of international commerce which are produced in large
numbers. For this reason, there is a need to specify the terms used in different languages to describe
spectacle frames and their parts, in order to facilitate mutual understanding and to avoid the use of
inappropriate or incorrect terms.
This International Standard includes terms relating to the measuring system for spectacle frames and terms
relating to formers. At the time of publication of this standard, the terms here relating to the measuring system
and formers are identical to those in ISO 8624:2002 and ISO 11380:1994. If, due to future revision, there
should be a disagreement between ISO 7998 and ISO 8624 or ISO 11380, then the definitions in the latest
version of ISO 8624 or ISO 11380 take precedence.

Introduction
Les montures de lunettes et leurs composants sont des articles produits en grande quantité faisant l’objet d’un
commerce international. Pour cette raison, il s’avère nécessaire de spécifier les termes utilisés dans
différentes langues pour décrire les montures de lunettes et leurs composants, afin de faciliter la
compréhension mutuelle et d’éviter l’utilisation de termes impropres ou incorrects.
La présente Norme internationale inclut les termes relatifs au système de mesurage des montures de lunettes
et ceux relatifs aux gabarits. À ce moment de la publication de la présente Norme internationale, les termes
relatifs au système de mesurage et aux gabarits sont identiques à ceux donnés dans l’ISO 8624:2002 et dans
l’ISO 11380:1994. Dans le cadre d’une révision future, il conviendra que l’ISO 7998 présente des différences
par rapport à l’ISO 8624 ou à l’ISO 11380, ce seront les définitions de la dernière version de l’ISO 8624 ou de
l’ISO 11380 qui feront foi.

Очковые оправы и их части составляют предмет международной торговли и выпускаются в больших
количествах. По этой причине для облегчения взаимопонимания и во избежание использования
неподходящих и неверных терминов существует потребность в нормировании терминов,
используемых для описания очковых оправ и их составных частей в разных языках.
Настоящий Mеждународный стандарт содержит термины, относящиеся к системе измерения очковых
оправ, и термины по шаблонам. К моменту опубликования этого стандарта приведённые в нём
термины по измерению очковых оправ и шаблонам идентичны приведённым в ISO 8624:2002 и
ISO 11380:1994. Если в результате последующего пересмотра возникнет несоответствие между
ISO 7998 и ISO 8624 или ISO 11380, то преимущество будут иметь определения, установленные в
последних изданиях ISO 8624 и ISO 11380.
