Heat exchangers - Test procedures for establishing performance of air to air and flue gases heat recovery devices

This standard specifies physical properties (mechanical, optical etc.) for nominally afocal sunglasses and sunglare filters intended for protection againstsolar radiation for general use, for social and domestic purposes, including road use and driving. For sunglasses and sunglare filters for industrial use, EN 166:1995 and EN 172:1994 apply. Guidance for selection and use of these filters is given in (informative) annex A. This standard does not apply to eyewear for protection against radiation from artificial light sources, such as those used in solaria.

Diese Norm legt physikalische (mechanische, optische usw.) Eigenschaften für Sonnenbrillen und Sonnenfilter ohne Korrektionswirkung fest, die für den all- gemeinen Gebrauch, für den gesellschaftlichen und privaten Bereich einschliess-lich beim Autofahren und im Strassenverkehr zum Schutz gegen Sonnenstrahlung vorgesehen sind. Für Sonnenfilter und Sonnenbrillen für den gewerblichen Gebrauch gelten EN 166:1995 und EN 172:1994. Ein Leitfaden für Auswahl und Benutzung dieser Filter wird im inforativen Anhang A gegeben.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les propriétés physiques (mécaniques,op- tiques, etc.) des lunettes afocales et des filtres afocaux de protection contre les rayonnements solaires prévus pour l'usage général, privé ou public, y com- pris pour la conduite automobile et pour les usagers de la route. L'EN 166:1995 et l'EN 172:1994 sont applicables pour les lunettes et les filtres de protectioncontre les rayonnements solaires pour l'usage industriel. L'annexe informative A constitue un guide de sélection et d'utilisation de ces filtres.

This European Standard specifies methods to be used for testing of air-to-air heat recovery components (HRC). The main purpose of the HRC shall be to
- preheat or heat and/or
- precool or cool
supply air in ventilation systems or air conditioning systems. Optional HRC can exchange air humidity between exhaust and supply air. The HRC contain the heat exchangers and all necessary features and auxiliary devices for the exchange of sensible heat and (if available) air humidity between exhaust air and supply air. The HRC will be installed in casings or air ducts. If fans are part of the test unit, the effect of the fan power on the measured values shall be corrected.
This European Standard specifies procedures and input criteria required for tests to determine the performance of a HRC at one or several test conditions, each of them with continuous air flows, air temperatures and humidities at both inlet sides. Three different test types are covered:
- Laboratory testing of HRC
- Laboratory testing of HRC installed in non-residential air handling
units (definition according Commission Regulation(EU) No 1253/2014) in design configuration
- On-site (field) testing of HRC in non-residential air handling units
or systems in operation configuration.
This European Standard is applicable to recuperators and regenerators intended for exchange of sensible heat and optionally for exchange of air humidity.
This European Standard prescribes test methods for determining:
1. the temperature and humidity efficiency
2. the pressure drop of exhaust air and supply air sides
3. possible internal leakages; exhaust air transfer ratio (EATR) and
outdoor air correction factor (OACF)and
4. auxiliary energy used for the operation of the HRC.
HRC using heat pumps are not covered by this standard.

This European Standard applies to hydronic fan coil units (FCU) as factory-made single assemblies which provide the functions of cooling and/or heating but do not include the source of cooling or heating.
The standard covers both air free delivery and air ducted units with a maximum external static pressure due to duct resistance of 120 Pa max.
The standard applies to all types of fan speed control of a fan coil unit (variable speed, multispeed).
This standard deals with the cooling and heating functions of the FCU considered as an emitter for cooling/heating of a room/space. It does not cover any ventilation function of the unit.
If the FCU can also provide fresh air, this function is not considered and the fresh air inlet closed during testing.
This European Standard provides a method for the determination of the thermal performance of fan coil units in standard conditions, for the use with hot or chilled water or water mixtures. The test procedures given in this standard may additionally be used for determining performance at other conditions.
It also provides the method for the determination of the air flow rate supplied by the fan coil unit.
The standard does not cover the rating of heating or cooling from direct expansion coils or heating from electric resistance elements.
The standard does not cover acoustic performance of fan coil units which is dealt with in EN 16583.
It is not the purpose of this standard to specify the tests used for production or field testing.

This European Standard specifies requirements, test methods and acceptance tests for thermal performances pumping head verification of wet cooling towers and plume abatement for wet/dry cooling towers.
This European Standard is applicable to natural draught wet cooling towers (see in 3.1.2.2) fan assisted natural draught cooling tower (see 3.1.2.3), wet/dry cooling towers (see 3.1.2.4) and "Mechanical draught cooling towers", except series ones.
It specifies the test methods, the apparatus required, the limitation of errors and the method for results examination.
The acceptance testing covers the verification of the thermal performance data and pumping head of the cooling tower as specified in the contract between the supplier and the purchaser. If these tests are required then this should be recognized at the time of the contract, as additional fittings, and preparations for the test may be required.
Deviations from the rules laid down below as well as additions need special agreement between purchaser and supplier and should be documented.
This standard does not apply to mechanical draught series wet cooling towers which are dealt with in prEN 13741.
NOTE   Terms like "design", "values", "guarantee" and "acceptance" used in this standard should be understood in a technical but not in a legal or commercial sense.
