Acoustics - Determination of sound insulation performance of cabins - Laboratory and in situ measurements (ISO 11957:1996)

This International Standard specifies a laboratory method (clause 6) and in situ methods (clause 7) for the determination of the sound insulation performance of sound-protecting cabins. The sound insulation performance is the reduction in sound pressure level or sound power level afforded by the cabin. The methods are applicable to cabins with a small leak ratio (e s 2 %). This International Standard is applicable to a complete cabin only and not to the individual components from which it is made.

IS0 11957: 1996(E) @ IS0
Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide fed-
eration of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of
preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which
a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented
on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-
governmental, in lialison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0 collabo-
rates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on
all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are cir-
culated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International
Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting
a vote.
International Standard IS0 11957 was prepared by Technical Committee
ISO/lC 43, Acoustics, Subcommittee SC 1, Noise, on request from
CEN/TC 211, Acoustics.
Related standards concern noise attenuation measurements of enclosures
under laboratory conditions (IS0 11546-l) and in situ (IS0 11546-2).
Annexes A and B of this International Standard are for information only.
