Safety of machinery - Safety requirements for the design and construction of paper making and finishing machines - Part 21: Coating machines

This European Standard applies to coating machines applying the wet process for off-line coating of base paper including unwind unit, coating units, drying section, flotation and infrared dryer, smoothing unit, integrated calender, measuring device, reel-up, integrated sheeter, drives and control system and applies together with EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. It deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazard events relevant to coating machines, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. This document does not deal with pressure hazards in steam-heated drying cylinders. This document does not apply to: - paper and board making machines, - equipment for the treatment of coating substances, - coating machines using solvent-based colours, - coating machines applying silicon, adhesives or resin onto the paper web, - printing and varnishing machines, - integrated conveyors and cranes designed for transporting reels/shells (reel spools) and for machine maintenance, - integrated fire extinguishing equipment. This document is not applicable to coating machines which are manufactured before the date of publication as an EN.

Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Streichmaschinen, die off-line zum Streichen von Rohpapieren im Nassverfahren bestimmt sind, einschließlich Abrollung, Auftragswerke, Trockenpartie, Schwebe- und Infrarot-Trockner, Glättwerk, integriertem Kalander, Messeinrichtung, integriertem Querschneider, Aufrollung, Antriebe und Steuerung, und ist in Verbindung mit EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 anzuwenden. Sie behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignisse für Streichmaschinen, die bestimmungsgemäß und unter den vom Hersteller vorzusehenden Bedingungen verwendet werden (siehe Abschnitt 4).
Nicht behandelt werden druckbedingte Gefährdungen in dampfbeheizten Trockenzylindern.
ANMERKUNG    Die grundlegenden Sicherheitsanforderungen für Druckgeräte sind in der Druckgeräte-Richtlinie 97/23/EG enthalten.
Diese Norm gilt nicht für:
-   Papier- und Kartonmaschinen,
-   Anlagen zur Aufbereitung der Streichfarben,
-   Streichmaschinen zum Auftragen lösemittelhaltiger Farben,
-   Beschichtungsmaschinen, mit denen Silikon, Klebstoffe oder Harze auf eine Papierbahn aufgetragen werden,
-   Druckmaschinen und Lackiermaschinen,
-   integrierte Förderer und Krane, die zum Transport von Rollen/Tambouren und zur Wartung eingesetzt werden,
-   integrierte Feuerlöscheinrichtungen.
Diese Norm gilt nicht für Streichmaschinen, die vor dem Datum der Veröffentlichung als europäische Norm hergestellt wurden.

La présente Norme européenne s'applique aux coucheuses appliquant le procédé par voie humide pour le
couchage hors ligne d'un papier de base, comprenant une unité de déroulage, des unités de couchage, une
sécherie, un sécheur à flottation et à infrarouge, une unité de lissage, une calandre intégrée, un appareil de
mesure, une enrouleuse, une coupeuse intégrée, des entraînements et un système de commande, et
s'applique conjointement à l'EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. Elle traite de tous les phénomènes dangereux,
situations et évènements dangereux significatifs spécifiques aux coucheuses, lorsqu'elles sont utilisées
normalement et dans les conditions prévues par le constructeur (voir Article 4).
Le présent document ne traite pas des phénomènes dangereux engendrés par la pression dans les cylindres
sécheurs chauffés à la vapeur.
NOTE La Directive 97/23/CE donne les exigences essentielles de sécurité pour les équipements sous pression.

The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are indicated in the scope of this document. For machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this C standard, the following stipulation applies: where provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are stated in type A or B standards or from provisions made in EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, the provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of the other standards. 1 Scope This European Standard applies to coating machines applying the wet process for off-line coating of base paper including unwind unit, coating units, drying section, flotation and infrared dryer, smoothing unit, integrated calender, measuring device, reel-up, integrated sheeter, drives and control system and applies together with
EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. It deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazard events relevant to coating machines, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
This document does not deal with pressure hazards in steam-heated drying cylinders.

Directive 97/23/EC gives essential safety requirements for equipment under pressure.
