This European Standard specifies safety and performance requirements for the design and testing of luggage carriers intended for permanent mounting above or adjacent to the wheels of cycles and lays down guide lines for instructions on the use and care of such luggage carriers. This European Standard does not apply to removable luggage (for example handlebar bags or baskets that are not permanently attached).

Diese Internationale Norm legt Anforderungen für die Sicherheit und Leistung bei der konstruktiven Ausfüh¬rung und Prüfung von Fahrradgepäckträgern fest, die für den Anbau (mit und ohne Werkzeug) oberhalb und seitlich der Fahrzeugräder vorgesehen sind und formuliert Leitlinien für die Nutzung und Pflege solcher Fahrradgepäckträger.
Diese Internationale Norm gilt nicht für abnehmbare Gepäcktaschen (z. B. Taschen oder Körbe an Lenkern, die nicht dauerhaft befestigt sind).
Spielzeugträger, die für den Anbau an Fahrräder von Kleinkindern vorgesehen sind und durch den Anwendungs¬bereich von ISO 8098 erfasst sind, werden in dieser Internationalen Norm nicht behandelt.

ISO 11243 :2016 spécifie les exigences de sécurité et de performance pour la conception et l'essai de porte-bagages destinés à être montés (avec ou sans outil) au-dessus et à côté des roues de cycles et établit les lignes directrices pour les instructions sur l'utilisation et l'entretien de ces porte-bagages.
Elle ne concerne pas les bagages amovibles (par exemple des sacs de guidon ou des paniers qui ne sont pas fixés en permanence).
Les porte-bagages jouet destinés à être montés sur les bicyclettes pour jeunes enfants entrant dans le domaine d'application de la norme ISO 8098 ne sont pas couverts par l'ISO 11243 :2016.

Ta evropski standard določa zahteve glede varnosti in učinkovitosti za zasnovo in preskušanje prtljažnikov, namenjenih za trajno namestitev nad ali ob kolesa koles, ter opredeljuje smernice za navodila o uporabi in vzdrževanju takšnih prtljažnikov. Ta evropski standard se ne uporablja za odstranljivo prtljago (npr. vreče ali košare na krmilu, ki niso trajno nameščene).

This document (EN ISO 11243:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 149 “Cycles”
in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 333 “Cycles” the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2017, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by January 2017.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
