Ladders - Terms, types, functional sizes
This European standard fixes the definitions and general terms and determines the general design characteristics of ladders, which are of importance for safety, handling and manufacturing of the ladders and of information for the user. It applies to portable ladders. It does not apply to ladders for special professional use such as firebrigade ladders and mobile ladders. In the working position all ladders are determined for a maximum static vertical load of 150 kg. Ladders are to be used by one person only per ascendable leg.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Definitionen und allgemeinen Begriffe fest und bestimmt die allgemeinen Konstruktionsmerkmale von Leitern, die für die Sicherheit, Handhabung und Fertigung der Leitern und die Information des Benutzers von Bedeutung sind. Sie gilt für tragbare Leitern. Sie gilt nicht für Spezialleitern für den besonderen beruflichen Gebrauch, wie Feuerwehrleitern und fahrbare Leitern. Alle Leitern sind für eine ruhende, lotrechte Höchstbelastung in Gebrauchslage durch ein Masse (Gewicht) von 150 kg bestimmt.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les définitions et les termes généraux, et détermine les caractéristiques générales de construction des échelles qui sont importantes pour la sécurité, le maniement et la fabrication des échelles ainsi que pour l'information de l'utilisateur. Elle s'applique aux échelles portables. Elle ne s'applique pas aux échelles a usage professionel spécifique telles qu'échelles de pompiers et échelles remorquables. Dans la position d'utilisation, toutes les échelles sont déterminées pour une charge verticale statique maximum de 150 kg.
