This part of IEC 63005 describes basic requirements for event video data recorders (EVDRs)
for road vehicle accidents, used for identifying and analysing causes of accidents based on
video from a front-mounted camera and other information obtained before and after such
events. In addition to video from a front-mounted camera and vehicle behaviour, these
products can record side and/or rear video data for enhanced functionalities in determining
causes of accidents and analysing collision events.

This part of IEC 62087 specifies methods of measurement for the power consumption of video
recording equipment with removable media. It specifies the different modes of operation which
are relevant for measuring power consumption.
The methods of measurement are applicable only for equipment which can be connected to
the mains.
The measuring conditions in this standard represent the normal use of the equipment and
may differ from specific conditions, as specified, for example, in safety standards.

This part of IEC 61883 specifies a protocol for the transport of uncompressed or compressed video data in the 4:2:2 format of recommendation ITU-R BT.601 (including compatible extensions to this format for the higher and lower resolutions of other commonly used video resolutions) over high performance serial bus, as specified by IEEE Std 1394-1995 as amended by IEEE Std 1394a-2000 and IEEE Std 1394b-2002 (collectively IEEE 1394). The
data formats for the encapsulation of video data are compatible with those specified by IEC 61883-1. Associated audio data, if any, should be formatted as specified by IEC 61883-6. There are many commonly used video formats unsupported by IEC 61883, such as MPEG-4, Windows Media Format (WMF) and the format used by automotive navigation applications. Support for all or most of these formats in rendering devices would require implementation of multiple video codecs. This is an undue burden that may be avoided if the source device converts to ITU-R BT.601 4:2:2 format and, if necessary, compresses the data with a codec supported by all destination devices. An additional advantage is that on-screen display (OSD) information may be mixed with video data prior to transmission to the rendering device. Because ITU-R BT.601 4:2:2 format is widely used internally in contemporary AV equipment, this specification permits straight-forward integration of IEEE 1394 into these devices and enables markets whose usage scenarios include single video sources transmitting to one or more video displays, such as:
– consumer electronic STB or DVD video rendered by multiple displays in the home;
– automotive navigation and entertainment; and
– aeronautical in-flight entertainment.
For the sake of interoperability and bounded implementation complexity, it is essential that the specification provide the following:
– a 1394 TA controlled list of compression codecs; and
– at a minimum, a reference to one video compression codec.

This International Standard specifies a digital time and control code for use in television, film, and accompanying audio systems operating at nominal rate of 60, 59,94, 50, 30, 29,97, 25, 24 and 23,98 frames per second. This International Standard specifies a time address, binary groups, and flag bit structure. In addition, the standard specifies a binary group flag assignment, a linear time code transport, and a vertical interval time code transport.
This International Standard defines primary data transport structures for linear time code (LTC) and vertical interval time code (VITC). This standard specifies the LTC modulation and timing for all video formats. This standard also defines the VITC modulation and location for 525/59,94 and 625/50 analogue composite and component systems only.
NOTE The digital representation of analogue VITC (D-VITC) is specified in SMPTE 266M and is defined for 525/59,94 and 625/50 digital component systems only. High definition formats, such as those documented in SMPTE 274M and SMPTE 296M, should use ancillary time code (ATC) as specified in SMPTE 12M-2 (formerly SMPTE RP 188) for transport of time code in the digital video data stream. For future implementations of time code for digital standard definition formats, the use of ATC rather than D-VITC is encouraged.

This part of IEC 62071 defines the format of the data stream for the synchronous exchange of DV-based audio, data, and compressed video (whose data structure is defined in SMPTE 314M) over the interface defined in SMPTE 305M. It covers the transmission of audio, subcode data and compressed video packets associated with DV-based 25 and 50 Mb/s data structures including faster-than-real-time transmission for 525/60 SDTI and 625/50 SDTI systems. This standard does not include the data stream of a DV-compressed structure as defined in SMPTE 322M. Space within SMPTE 305M not used by a data stream conforming to this standard may be used for the transmission of data other than those representing DV-based audio, data and compressed video. In this standard, the 60 Hz system refers to the field frequency 59,94 Hz system and the 50 Hz system refers to the field frequency 50,0 Hz system.
