This European Standard specifies the mechanical safety requirements and test methods for outdoor tables used by adults for camping, domestic and contract use without regard to materials, design/construction or manufacturing processes. This standard excludes tables using glass in their construction. This document does not apply to outdoor furniture for severe contract use where higher requirements may be necessary, nor does it apply to street furniture and furniture permanently fixed to the ground/wall. Annex A (informative) specifies guidelines for purchase information. Information regarding ageing and degradation caused by light, temperature and moisture has not been included.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Mindestanforderungen an die Sicherheit, Festigkeit und Dauerhaltbarkeit für alle Arten von Außentischen für Erwachsene, unabhängig von Werkstoffen, Design/Konstruktion oder Herstellungsprozessen, fest.
Sie gilt nicht für öffentlich aufgestellte Straßenmöbel.
Die Norm enthält mit Ausnahme der Prüfungen der Standsicherheit keine Beurteilung der Eignung der in Tischen enthaltenen Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeiten.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die Dauerhaltbarkeit von Rollen/Rädern und an Mechanismen zur Höhenverstellung.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die elektrische Sicherheit.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die Alterungsbeständigkeit und an durch Licht, Temperatur und Feuchtigkeit verursachte Qualitätsminderungen.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences minimales en matière de sécurité, de résistance et de durabilité de tous les types de tables d’extérieur pour adultes, indépendamment de la nature des matériaux, de la conception/construction ou des procédés de fabrication.
Elle ne s’applique pas au mobilier urbain.
À l’exception des essais de stabilité, la présente norme ne fournit aucune évaluation sur l’aptitude à l’usage des éléments de rangement inclus dans les tables.
Elle n’inclut aucune exigence relative à la durabilité des roues/roulettes et des mécanismes de réglage de la hauteur.
Elle n’inclut aucune exigence relative à la sécurité électrique.
Elle n’inclut aucune exigence relative à la résistance au vieillissement et aux détériorations dues à la lumière, à la température et à l’humidité.

This document (EN 581-3:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 207 “Furniture”,
the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by July 2017, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by July 2017.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 581-3:2007.
Compared to the current version, the main modifications are:
— update the references with new EN 1730:2012;
— harmonize this standard with EN 581-2:2015.

This European Standard specifies the minimum requirements for the safety, strength and durability of
all types of outdoor tables for adults, without regard to materials, design/construction or
manufacturing processes.
It does not apply to street furniture.
