If this draft becomes an amendment, CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

A version in any other language made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to
the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.

20 This document modifies by common modifications prEN IEC 62841-3-5:2021, which consists of the text of
21 116/490/CDV (future IEC 62841-3-5, Ed. 1) prepared by IEC/TC 116 “Safety of motor-operated electric tools”.
22 This series is divided into four parts:
23 Part 1: General requirements which are common to most hand-held electric motor operated tools (for
24 the purpose of this document referred to simply as tools) which could come within the scope of this document;
25 Part 2, 3 or 4: Requirements for particular types of tools which either supplement or modify the requirements
26 given in Part 1 to account for the particular hazards and characteristics of these specific tools.
27 The Part 3-5 is to be used in conjunction with EN 62841-1:2015 and its amendments.
28 The Part 3-5 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in EN 62841-1:2015, so as to convert it into
29 the European Standard: Particular requirements for transportable band saws.
30 Where a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in Part 3-5, that subclause applies as far as relevant.
31 When this document states “addition”, “modification” or “replacement”, the relevant text in Part 1 is to be adapted
32 accordingly.

47 1 Modification to Clause 1, “Scope”
48 Add the following to the existing Clause 1:
49 “This document applies to band saws having a mass of:
50 — maximum 25 kg for tools capable of being lifted by hand by one person;
51 — maximum 50 kg for tools capable of being lifted by hand by two persons.
52 This document does not apply to stationary band saws intended to cut wood and similar materials.
53 NOTE Z101 EN 1807-1:2013 gives requirements for stationary band saws and band saws with a mass greater than
54 indicated above.
55 This document covers all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant for tools
56 covered by this document.
57 NOTE Z102 Essential requirements not mentioned in Table ZZ.1 are deemed to be not applicable, because the
58 corresponding hazards are not significant for machines covered by this document.”
