This standard has one common requirements part plus specific parts for each of the radio equipment and services.  This harmonised standard under the EMC Directive and article 3.1b of the R&TTE Dirctive.  This does not include EMC requirements for equipment covered by the Marine Equipment Directive.

ETSIETSIEN301489-1V1.2.1(2000-08)111ScopeThepresentdocumentcontainsthecommonrequirementsforradiocommunicationsequipmentandassociatedancillaryequipment,inrespectofElectroMagneticCompatibility(EMC).ProductdependentarrangementsnecessarytoperformtheEMCtestsondedicatedtypesofradiocommunicationsequipment,andtheassessmentoftestresults,aredetailedintheappropriateproductrelatedpartsofthepresentdocument.Thepresentdocument,togetherwiththeproductrelatedpart,specifiestheapplicableEMCtests,themethodsofmeasurement,thelimitsandtheperformancecriteriaforradioequipmentandassociatedancillaryequipment.Incaseofdifferences(forinstanceconcerningspecialconditions,definitions,abbreviation)betweenthispartandtherelevantproductrelatedpartofthepresentdocument,theproductrelatedparttakesprecedence.Technicalspecificationsrelatedtotheantennaportofradioequipmentandemissionsfromtheenclosureportofradioequipmentandcombinationsofradioandassociatedancillaryequipmentarenotincludedinthepresentdocument.Suchtechnicalspecificationsarenormallyfoundintherelevantproductstandardsfortheeffectiveuseoftheradiospectrum.Theenvironmentclassificationusedinthepresentdocumentreferstotheenvironmentclassificationusedin:-EN50081-1[1]andEN50082-1[2]fortheresidential,commercialandlightindustrialenvironment;or-TR101651[15]forthetelecommunicationcentreenvironment;or-ISO7637-1[13]andISO7637-2[14]forthevehicularenvironment.TheEMCrequirementshavebeenselectedtoensureanadequatelevelofcompatibilityforapparatusintendedtobeusedintheenvironmentsmentionedabove.Thelevels,however,donotcoverextremecaseswhichmayoccurinanylocationbutwithlowprobabilityofoccurrence.Theapplicableenvironment(s)shallbedeclaredbythemanufacturerandshallbeinaccordancewiththeequipmentdocumentation.Thepresentdocumentmaynotcoverthosecaseswhereapotentialsourceofinterferencewhichisproducingindividuallyrepeatedtransientphenomenaoracontinuousphenomenaispermanentlypresent,e.g.aradarorbroadcastsiteinthenearvicinity.Insuchacaseitmaybenecessarytousespecialprotectionappliedtoeitherthesourceofinterferenceortheinterferedpartorboth.Complianceofradioequipmenttotherequirementsofthepresentdocumentdoesnotsignifycompliancetoanyrequirementsrelatedtospectrummanagementortotheuseoftheequipment(licensingrequirements).Compliancetotherequirementsofthepresentdocumentdoesnotsignifycompliancetoanysafetyrequirements.However,itistheresponsibilityoftheassessoroftheequipmenttorecordinthetestreportanyobservationsregardingthetestsamplebecomingdangerousorunsafeasaresultoftheapplicationofthetestscalledforinthepresentdocument.NOTE:RadioequipmentforuseinmaritimeenvironmentarecoveredbyotherETSIEMCstandards.SIST EN 301 489-1:2001
