This European Standard specifies the methods of test required to determine the characteristics for viscous "refractory binders" used as industrial binders.
Depending on the required application and the desired properties of the end product, different grades on refractory binders are available.
Note that carbon binder pitch as described under prEN 14263 can be used for refractory products as well.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Eigenschaften von viskosen "Feuerfestbindemittel" für industrielle Zwecke fest.
Abhängig von der geforderten Anwendung und den gewünschten Eigenschaften des Endproduktes sind unterschiedliche Klassen von Feuerfestbindemitteln erhältlich.
Es ist zu beachten, dass Bindepech für Kohlenstoffprodukte, wie in prEN 14263 beschrieben, ebenfalls als Feuerfestprodukte verwendet werden können.

La présente Norme européenne prescrit les méthodes d'essai nécessaires a la détermination des caractéristiques des liants réfractaires visqueux utilisés comme liants industriels.
Il existe différentes catégories de liants réfractaires en fonction de l'utilisation demandée et des propriétés recherchées pour le produit fini.
A noter que les brais liants pour pieces carbonées décrits dans le prEN 14263 peuvent également etre utilisés comme produits réfractaires.
