Marking of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with Article 11(2) of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE)

This European Standard specifies a marking  •   of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with Article 11(2) of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE); NOTE   This is in addition to the marking requirement in Article 10(3) of this Directive which requires producers to mark electrical and electronic equipment put on the market after 13 August 2005 with a ‘crossed-out wheeled bin’ symbol. •   that applies to electrical and electronic equipment falling under Annex IA of Directive 2002/96/EC, provided the equipment concerned is not part of another type of equipment that does not fall within the scope of this Directive. Annex IB of Directive 2002/96/EC contains an indicative list of the products, which fall under the categories set out in Annex IA of this Directive; •   that serves to clearly identify the producer of the equipment and that the equipment has been put on the market after 13 August 2005. The definition of a technical carrier medium for identifying the producer, such as a barcode, electronic data medium or microchip, is not covered by this standard.

Diese Europäische Norm legt eine Kennzeichnung fest –   von elektrischen und elektronischen Geräten entsprechend Artikel 11(2) der Richtlinie 2002/96/EG (WEEE); ANMERKUNG Dies stellt einen Zusatz zur Kennzeichnungsanforderung in Artikel 10(3) dieser Richtlinie dar, die vom Hersteller fordert, elektrische und elektronische Geräte, die nach dem 13. August 2005 in Verkehr gebracht wurden, mit dem Symbol einer „durchkreuzten Mülltonne“ zu kennzeichnen. –   die für elektrische und elektronische Geräte gilt, die unter den Anhang IA der Richtlinie 2002/96/EG fallen, sie nicht Teil eines anderen Gerätetyps sind, die nicht in den Anwendungsbereich dieser Richtlinie fällt. Anhang IB der Richtlinie 2002/96/EG enthält eine Liste mit Beispielen für Produkte, die unter die Kategorien fallen, die im Anhang IA dieser Richtlinie angegeben sind; –   die dazu dient, den Hersteller des Geräts eindeutig zu identifizieren sowie dass das Gerät nach dem 13. August 2005 in Verkehr gebracht worden ist. Die Festlegung eines technischen Trägermediums zur Identifizierung des Herstellers wie zum Beispiel Strichcodes, elektronische Datenmedien oder Mikrochips wird von dieser Norm nicht abgedeckt.

La présente Norme Européenne spécifie un marquage •   des équipements électriques et électroniques conformément à l’article 11(2) de la directive 2002/96/CE (DEEE); NOTE   Ceci vient en complément des exigences de marquage de l’article 10(3) de cette Directive qui impose aux producteurs de marquer les équipements électriques et électroniques mis sur le marché après le 13 août 2005 avec un symbole de «poubelle barrée». •   qui s’applique aux équipements électriques et électroniques relevant de l’Annexe IA de la Directive 2002/96/CE, pour autant que l’équipement considéré ne fasse pas partie d’une autre type d’équipement qui n’entre pas dans le champ d’application de cette directive. L’annexe IB de la Directive 2002/96/CE fournit une liste indicative des produits qui relèvent des catégories énumérées à l’annexe IA de cette Directive; •   qui sert à identifier clairement le producteur de l’équipement et que cet équipement a été mis sur le marché après le 13 août 2005. La définition d’un moyen technique d’identification du producteur, tel qu’un code à barres, un support électronique des données ou une micro-puce n’est pas couverte dans cette norme.

This European Standard was prepared by the CENELEC BTTF 116-3, Waste from electrical and
electronic equipment (WEEE).
The text of the draft was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure and was approved by CENELEC
as EN 50419 on 2004-12-07.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2005-08-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2005-08-01
This European Standard was prepared under the mandate M/336 given to CENELEC by the European
Commission and the European Free Trade Association and supports the essential requirements of
Directive 2002/96/EC.
The contents of the corrigendum of February 2005 have been included in this copy.

1 Scope
